
A glorious bite of salty, cheesy and sweet. These ham wrapped dates are a burst of flavor and scream for a wine night with friends or to pair with a cocktail on Fridays’ happy hour at home.
Ingredients
- 8 pitted fresh dates
- ½ cup crumbled gorgonzola
- 8 slices of serrano ham
- 8 pecans
- Honey
- 2 teaspoons orange zest
Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 375 degrees.
- Cut the dates in half lengthwise. If they are pitted, remove the pit.
- Place about a tablespoon of gorgonzola cheese on each date on top with a pecan.
- Bake for 10 minutes until cheese is softened and the dates begin to caramelize.
- Remove from the oven. Drizzle with honey and sprinkle with orange zest.
Ideas and Variations:
- Place on a charcuterie board along crackers, cheeses and nuts.
- Add red pepper flakes to your honey for a slightly spicy variation.
- Switch the gorgonzola for brie if you prefer a milkier moment.
